Good evening everyone,
Happy Sunday! As the Olympics wind down, I would like to acknowledge the 23 medals Team USA earned. This is awesome! I thoroughly enjoyed the televised coverage, and I look forward to the 2020 Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo.
Here are your announcements (and please pay special attention to important dates outlined later in this communication - this communication is lengthy and detailed - please read it in its entirety, and keep it in your inbox for continual reference):
In fundraising news, I previously sent you an electronic flyer from the fundraising committee that outlined details for our Poker Night on March 17th. Please consider joining us for this very important fundraiser! A picture of the flyer is below, and you may also go to our website for more information. We hope to see you there!
In volunteer news, we will be sending out a sign-up genius soon, which will outline our volunteer needs for Poker Night. Please be on the lookout for it. It is vital that we have this event fully staffed, so please save the date of March 17th and take advantage of the opportunity to support our music program.
We also have an urgent need to train and establish regular volunteers at our Sunday Matinee Bingo sessions at the Sacramento Bingo Center. We encourage you to consider joining the music program at this important weekly fundraising opportunity. Please look at the sign-up genius for available volunteer slots. If you have specific questions related to volunteer opportunities, please reach out to our volunteer coordinators as soon as possible.
Looking forward, we anticipate a need for volunteers at several Winter Percussion/Winter Guard events. Specifically, we will need several individuals to assist with food preparation and distribution to our percussion and guard students. Please reach out to our catering coordinator for more details.

Many thanks to all of the families and friends who came out yesterday to watch the percussion and guard ensembles perform during Family Day. The students did a wonderful job! I look forward to the first competitive performance this Friday. A couple of pictures from the Family Day performance are below.
Congratulations to our Jazz Band for their participation in the Jazz Festival last Friday at Woodcreek High School. This was the first Jazz Festival performance for Inderkum's music program. Here are several reminders, as our departure for Florida nears:
*Please make certain that your fees are paid in full. Contact World Projects directly with any specific questions related to your student.
*Please make certain that your age 18 and over student has valid identification at the time of departure. (DMV, TSA)
*Please assist your students with reaching out to their teachers and reminding them about an absence from the classroom from April 9th - April 13th.
*Please encourage your student to stay focused and to manage time well. They will need to stay current with classwork, homework, and projects.
We depart for Florida in 44 days. It's not too early to start thinking about items your student (and our chaperones) will need for the trip. Among them:
*A piece of luggage
*A luggage tag, with your student's name, our school name, and contact information clearly visible
*A toiletry bag with your student's essentials (including toothpaste, toothbrush, dental floss, hairbrush, soap, deodorant, shampoo, chapstick, lotion, razors, and shave cream)
*Basic first-aid supplies (such as bandaids, Kleenex, wet wipes, and safety pins)
*Any medications, clearly labeled and identified, with doctor's instructions as appropriate
*An identification tag for your student's personally-owned instrument
*Personal identification (driver's license, state-issued ID, Inderkum student ID, etc)
*A small backpack
*Plastic bags for dirty/wet clothing
*Snacks for the trip/flight out (such as granola bars, fruit, and crackers)
*Band apparel as identified by the directors
*COMFORTABLE, BROKEN-IN WALKING SHOES (This will not be the time to break in new shoes! We anticipate that the students will be walking many miles during this trip.)
*Comfortable clothing, with plans for various weather conditions (think about layering clothing, such as t-shirts/hoodies, shorts/sweatpants, etc.). Don't forget about pajamas!
*Prescription eyeglasses and/or sunglasses
*A hat or sun visor
*A bathing suit with cover (The bathing suit needs to be appropriate and modest. I would strongly encourage your student to consider a rash guard/swim suit cover. We are representing Inderkum High School and must plan accordingly when making swimwear choices. We are not planning for vacation; we are planning for a music tour and are representing our music program).
*Reusable water bottle (empty until after airport check-in/security clearance)
*Camera or cell phone with camera capability (don't forget about chargers!)
*Names and phone numbers of emergency contacts
Please be mindful of your student's needs and plan accordingly. We have 43 days to get everything ready. These days will click down quickly.
If you have questions, or if I may assist you in any way, please do not hesitate to reach out to me. It is my pleasure to help you in all ways possible.
Thank you for your continued support and for allowing your students to experience all that is Inderkum Music.
Have a fantastic week!
