Here are your announcements:
First of all, we would like to welcome all of the new students and their families to the music program. This is going to be a great year, filled with amazing music, competition, travel, and a lot of fun. We're so glad to have you join us!
For those students who are playing instruments on loan from the music department: the completed instrument agreements are now due. It is very important that thorough documentation be maintained for all instruments. The instruments are costly and not easily replaceable; the appropriate paperwork needs to be returned to the directors immediately so that information can be recorded accordingly.
All student registration forms and band fees are now due. Students may not participate in the band program without these completed forms. To ensure the safety and well being of the students, information must be provided/updated regularly. All information is kept confidential.
The cookie dough fundraiser is in full swing. The order forms and money are due on August 31st. We need to sell, sell, sell! With this being a travel year for the band, it is incredibly important that we take full advantage of every fundraising opportunity. FUNDRAISING. I'll be using this word frequently.
The order forms and money for apparel are due on September 5th. A reminder: all students will need a compression shirt (undergarment) for marching band uniforms. If your student is in need of this garment, please ADD IT ON to the order form and include the size needed and your payment of $20.00. When ordered in bulk, these items are much less expensive. Look over the other items on the order form and have the conversation with your student about what is needed for the year. I also encourage you to make sure that your student has marching shoes. If your student is returning, check to make certain that they are in marching condition. If your student is new, please be sure to order them. I have included the order form as an attachment on this email.
As I have mentioned in previous emails, as marching season gears up, we will have needs for multiple volunteers. There will be needs at bingo sessions, marching band reviews, football games, fundraising events, and uniform fittings. Our volunteer coordinators are eager to connect with you and discuss opportunities. Please reach out to them at firstname.lastname@example.org. They have provided you with a message, which is included at the end of this email.
Please mark your calendar for a fundraising event on October 3rd, from 5:00 - 9:00. It's Chipotle night. It's not too early to plan, so please plan not to cook dinner that night and support the music program! Details will follow soon.
We are also asking for monetary donations and raffle prizes for various fundraisers throughout the year. If you would like to discuss this with the fundraising coordinator, please reach out to him at email@example.com.
Looking forward, there is an SAT opportunity on Saturday, October 7th. As we have no band event scheduled for that day, please plan for your student to take the SAT on October 7th if at all possible. The directors work hard to plan an intense fall music program around academic testing needs. Please take advantage of these opportunities.
As a reminder marching band practices every Monday and Thursday from 4:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. and color guard practices on the same days from 4:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. It cannot be emphasized enough that appropriate attire and closed-toe shoes must be worn at all times. Please refer to the class syllabus that has been provided to you if you have questions related to conduct and expectations of students in the band program.
Another reminder that there is no school, band, or marching band practice on Monday, September 4th.
I encourage you all to stay informed of important dates and events related to Inderkum so that you can plan accordingly and avoid scheduling conflicts. Click here to be redirected to Inderkum's website.
One final note: Extreme heat is expected this week, with 109 degrees forecast for Monday, the day of marching band practice. Please be sure that your student dresses in appropriate, cool clothing and has adequate amounts of water available to drink during break periods. The safety and well being of the students are the highest priorities of the directors; appropriate, cool clothing and water are a must in this weather, inside or outside. Warm weather will be with us for at least a few more weeks, so please plan accordingly.
Thank you all for your continued support and for encouraging your student to arrive at band on time, with a positive attitude, and with a willingness to play some fantastic, challenging music. The year is off to a great start!

Heather and I were so excited to see so many faces at the band parent meeting last week. A HUGE thank you goes out to all who signed up to help with Bingo and Uniform Fittings! We would like to thank the following band family members who came out to either bingo or uniform fittings: Denise Wietrick, Rosalind Heard, Ron Oliveros, Sherryl Smith, Gillian Wietrick, Shreya Chaudhary, Doug Sallaway and Chris Sallaway, Chan Phomthevy, Rosemary William, Jay Guzman, Jen Guzman, Minh La, Veronica Harvey, Dave Baumback, Cathy Baumback. We also have some phenomenal volunteers that help us week in and week out at the Sacramento Bingo Center: Michelle, Cheri, Meg, Jani, Vincent, Lisa, Roni, Alex, Terry, Jene & Tammy. We couldn't get through bingo without them
