Good evening everyone,
I hope you are all enjoying a weekend filled with Winter Olympics viewing and relaxation. Continue to enjoy your weekend, as it's a long one! As a reminder there is no school tomorrow, Monday February 12th, in honor of President's Day.
Here are your announcements:
In fundraising news, Poker Night plans continue. As we finalize plans and more specifically define volunteer needs, communication with all relevant details will be distributed. Until then, please save the date: Saturday, March 17th. It is a very important fundraising event for the music program.
In volunteer news, we desperately need help with our Sunday Matinee Bingo sessions. Please take a look at the sign-up genius and consider signing up for a session. We would love to see you there!
If you have specific questions about volunteering for the music program, please reach out to our volunteer coordinators. They would love to speak with you about how to get involved.
Our next Tiger Bazaar is on Friday, February 16th. We are now accepting various donations (as identified in the pictures below). Please bring your donations to the band room no later than 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 14th, so that a proper inventory can be taken. Thank you so much for your support of the band, orchestra, and color guard!
(It is the "14th", not the 13th - we are aware of this error)

*Thursday - Sunday, February 15th - February 18th are All-State Honor Band performance days
*Monday, February 19th is a President's Day holiday, and school will be closed
*Friday, February 23rd is the Woodcreek Jazz Festival for Jazz Band (in Sacramento)

*Friday, March 2nd is the start of Winter Percussion/Winter Guard performance season (first show is in Elk Grove)
*Saturday, March 3rd is the Woodcreek Concert Festival for ALL band ensembles (in Sacramento)
*Wednesday, March 7th is a MANDATORY PARENT MEETING, RELATED TO THE FLORIDA TRIP. Parents/guardians of all who are traveling MUST attend this meeting at 7:00 p.m. in Inderkum's theater. (Please plan ahead here: Natomas Middle School and Discovery High School are having their Open Houses on this date too. If you have students that attend either of these schools and plan to attend their Open Houses, please be mindful of the time constraints involved with attending both an Open House and the Mandatory Parent Meeting on the same night). The meeting will address the many questions that have been asked about the Florida trip. All of the details related to call times, flights, itineraries, chaperones, baggage, apparel requirements, etc. will be addressed at this meeting. Thank you all for your understanding and patience as the many details are finalized.
Here are several important reminders (details were contained in last week's communication):
*Please keep in contact with World Projects if you are still in the process of completing payment in full for the Florida trip.
*Please assist your student in obtaining a valid form of identification if he/she is age 18 or over at the time of travel to Florida. This is time sensitive! (DMV, TSA)
*Please assist your student in reaching out to teachers and reminding them about your student's absence from the classroom from April 9th - April 13th. Arrangements will need to be made regarding missed work, assessments, etc.
*Please encourage your student to stay current on classwork, homework, and projects. Academic demands and a week-long absence from the classroom in April will require time management, organization, focus, and communication with teachers.
This time of year can be a bit challenging for students. Traditionally, as the weather changes and the days get longer, students have more difficulty staying focused. Please remind them about the importance of punctuality, discipline, focus, and respectful behavior. There is a lot of school left, and every day counts!
Thank you for your continued support of the music program. Most importantly, thank you for your continued support of the students. Your involvement, presence, and encouragement in both educational experiences and life experiences matter a great deal.
Have a wonderful week, and we'll see you at school bright and early Tuesday morning. Enjoy the Olympics!
