Good afternoon everyone,
Happy Daylight Saving Time! Losing one hour of sleep is initially very difficult, to be sure, but we now have longer evenings to enjoy. Spring is almost here!
We are down to just 49 school days left in this year, and we have only 25 school days until Spring Break. With these school days come increased academic demands and numerous school events. It is vital that we encourage good time management with the students. There has been a marked increase in absenteeism in band classes in recent weeks, which has adversely affected rehearsals for all ensembles. It requires significant time for the directors to plan rehearsals, introduce music, instruct the students, and create musical sets for the numerous performances throughout the year. All students are expected to arrive to band class each day, on time, and prepared to rehearse. Please remind your students that band classes are graded much like their other curricular classes, and attendance and preparation are weighted heavily in the grading process. If it is absolutely necessary for your student to be absent from class, please extend courtesy to the directors by informing them ahead of time about your student's absence so that plans can be made in ensemble rehearsals. Thank you very much for your understanding and support in this important matter.
