Good evening everyone,
I hope you all had a restful weekend, enjoying the longer evenings and interesting weather. I find it fascinating that young kids find hail to be so, well, fascinating. One of my 3rd grade students refers to hail as "Sacramento snow". I love it!
Here are your announcements:
In fundraising news, we would like to thank everyone who came out to Poker Night at the Pagoda Building last night, both as players and volunteers. These fundraising opportunities are so important for the music program, and your support is very appreciated. Pictures from the event are below.
In volunteer news, please consider volunteering at our Sunday Matinee Bingo sessions at the Sacramento Bingo Center. It is urgent that we train and establish regular volunteers for this extremely important weekly fundraising event. Please view the sign-up genius for volunteer opportunities. You may also contact our volunteer coordinators directly or view our website for more Bingo details.
Continuing with volunteer news, we anticipate a need for volunteers at several Winter Percussion/Winter Guard events. Specifically, we are looking for several individuals to assist with food preparation and distribution to our percussion and guard students. Please reach out to our catering coordinator for more details.

I have also sent out reminders of must-do's for your student before our departure and a list of items to collect for your student for the purposes of packing. For your convenience, the information is repeated here:
Must do's before our departure:
*Please make certain that your age 18 and over student has valid identification at the time of departure.
*Please assist your students with reaching out to their teachers and reminding them about an absence from the classroom from April 9th - April 13th. This is very important. Teachers report that they are beginning to hear from students, so thank you!
Items to collect for the purposes of packing:
*A piece of luggage
*A luggage tag, with your student's name, our school name, and contact information clearly visible
*A toiletry bag with your student's essentials (including toothpaste, toothbrush, dental floss, hairbrush, soap, deodorant, shampoo, chapstick, lotion, razors, and shave cream)
*Basic first-aid supplies (such as bandaids, Kleenex, wet wipes, and safety pins)
*Any medications, clearly labeled and identified, with doctor's instructions as appropriate
*An identification tag for your student's personally-owned instrument
*Personal identification (driver's license, state-issued ID, Inderkum student ID, etc)

*Plastic bags for dirty/wet clothing
*Snacks for the trip/flight out (such as granola bars, fruit, and crackers)

*COMFORTABLE, BROKEN-IN WALKING SHOES (This will not be the time to break in new shoes! We anticipate that the students will be walking many miles during this trip.)

*Prescription eyeglasses and/or sunglasses
*A hat or sun visor
*A bathing suit with cover (The bathing suit needs to be appropriate and modest. I would strongly encourage your student to consider a rash guard/swim suit cover. We are representing Inderkum High School and must plan accordingly when making swimwear choices. We are not planning for vacation; we are planning for a music tour and are representing our music program).
*Reusable water bottle (empty until after airport check-in/security clearance)
*Camera or cell phone with camera capability (don't forget about chargers!)
*Names and phone numbers of emergency contacts
For specific details related to airport security and checkpoints that travelers could encounter, please go to TSA's website.
Please be mindful of your student's needs and plan accordingly. We have 22 days to get everything ready.
Thank you for supporting your students by keeping them focused, organized, and mindful of the importance of time management. Our goal is success for all students, and your support of their educational experiences is vital to that success.
If I may help you in any way, please do not hesitate to reach out to me.
Spring Break is quickly approaching. We can do it! We're almost there!
Have a wonderful week!
