Good evening everyone,
I hope you all enjoyed the long weekend and were able to honor our military veterans.
Many thanks to all of the families who attended the playoff football game last Thursday night. The team advanced to the next round of the playoffs, which means that the band will be performing this Friday night (more on that below - click here for the football playoff brackets).
Now, for announcements:
In fundraising news:
*The annual pancake breakfast and Christmas Bazaar are on Saturday, December 2nd at Inderkum. WE COULD REALLY USE HELP WITH THESE EVENTS. Please mark your calendars: The fundraising coordinator would like to meet with you on Wednesday, November 15th, at 6:30 p.m. at Panera in North Natomas (Del Paso Rd). We hope to see you there! Click here to sign up for the Pancake Breakfast.
*Paint night is Saturday, December 16th. Information and sign-ups are available on the website. Click here for more details.
Our thanks to all that supported the popcorn fundraiser. Popcorn will be delivered soon. Please look for an email later this month with delivery details.
In volunteer news, I will be sending out a separate email tomorrow, which will contain important details related to events and volunteer needs. Please look for that email and read it carefully. If you have questions about volunteering, please reach out to our volunteer coordinators. They are happy to speak with you and give you information about how to get involved.
Marching band will practice on Monday and Thursday from 4:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m., and color guard will practice from 4:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. on the same days. The section leaders and band directors will likely request extra practice sessions, in preparation for our final band review this weekend. Please look for communications about modified practice schedules. The next two marching band practices will be very important; please make every effort to support your student by emphasizing attendance and punctuality.
In an attempt to keep the students hydrated during practice and rehearsals, the band is in need of bottles of water. Any donations of water would be greatly appreciated!
There is another SAT opportunity scheduled for December 2nd. The band does not have an event scheduled, so please have your student take the test on this date if possible.
Please regularly check Inderkum's website for important dates, events, etc. so that you may plan accordingly with your student and avoid scheduling conflicts.
Looking forward, our winter concert is scheduled for Thursday, December 7th. Please mark your calendars and plan to spend the evening listening to fantastic music!
If you are joining us on the trip to Florida in April, and if you are using your student's account to help fund the trip, please refer to the email message from our president sent out on November 6th for instructions. As a reminder, the next payment to World Projects is due on December 15th, in the amount of $500.00.
On the subject of the Florida trip, we are in need of chaperones. Individuals considered must be cleared through the district and meet all requirements (fingerprinted, TB immunized, etc). If you are interested in chaperoning the trip, please reach out to the directors and inform them of your status. Please keep in mind that all fees required of the students will also apply to chaperones.
The second playoff football game is on Friday, November 17th. The band will be performing at this game. Call times and apparel requirements will be announced later in the week.
Our final band review of the season, the championships, will be on Saturday, November 18th in Fairfield. I have attached all of the informational flyers to this email. Keep this email in your inbox so that you may refer to it during your travels and throughout the day on Saturday. Please consider joining us in cheering and watching our students march down the street with pride! They have worked very hard this season, and we are extremely proud of them. Please bring your voices, encouragement, coats and umbrellas (please keep an eye on the weather forecast - there is currently a 40% chance of rain in Fairfield on that day). I will be sending communication specific to the band review later in the week.
With back-to-back performances on Friday night and Saturday morning, please encourage your students to make choices that will set them up for success (good food choices, rest, hydration, respectful attitudes, organization, and preparation). They will be in school all day Friday, performing in the cool weather Friday night, and reporting to their5:30 a.m. call time Saturday morning. The good news: they will have a solid 8 days to rest and relax after returning to Inderkum Saturday night; Thanksgiving break is November 20 - November 24!
Please support your students in keeping them focused and engaged during this very important week of preparation. Let's finish marching season strong and begin concert season with focus and enthusiasm.
Thank you, everyone, for supporting this amazing ensemble of students and for providing them with memorable and important educational opportunity. You are appreciated!
5 more school days until Thanksgiving break - we can do it!
Have a great week!
