Good evening everyone,
Wow! What a weekend! I hope you're all as energized as I am to get this week started!
The football game Friday night was full of positive energy. The students and all in attendance were having a great time. I have attached some pictures from the football game to this email.
The band review yesterday was, in a word, AMAZING. We are so incredibly proud of the students! Words are inadequate. I invite you to my YouTube channel so that you may view the video of the march. Meet your SWEEPSTAKES WINNERS FOR MARCHING! It was a fantastic, memorable day. Please take a moment to watch this video with your student and with your family. A picture of the trophy is attached to this email. Way to go, everyone!
There are so many individuals to thank, among them:
*Our uniform coordinator, Chris Sallaway. You make uniforms happen! Our students look incredible.
*Our volunteer coordinators, Lisa Sheaffer and Heather Dunn Carlton. Your make volunteer coordination look easy, and you do it so well!
*Our food coordinator, Jen Guzman. You plan, prepare, and deliver food to our army of students; thank you for taking such good care of them!
*Our bingo manager Jay Guzman and our fundraising coordinator David Baumback. Your commitment to raising funds for the band program is second to none!
*Our president Jonathan Corr, our vice-president Denise Wietrick, our secretary Rosalind Heard, and Nandini Chaudhary. You all take care of business, both figuratively and literally!
*Our drum majors, Justin Khim and Shreya Chaudhary, and the band's student president, Gillian Wietrick. Our student leaders are fantastic!
*Our caption heads, including Paul Baker and Kevin Goings. We appreciate your dedication, your hard work, and your commitment to our students!
*The entire color guard unit. You all are amazing! Congratulations on your many accomplishments!
*Our directors, Mr. Hines and Ms. Agpalza. Thank you for continuing to guide, challenge, and inspire our students, and for modeling respect, integrity, discipline, and excellence in all that you do.
*Our band families. You are AWESOME. Thank you for your continued support, volunteer time, donations, and encouragement.
... and most importantly:
*OUR STUDENTS. This group of students is incredible. We appreciate your hard work and commitment to the band program and to great music. Keep it up!
Now, on to announcements:
In fundraising news, I will refer to two items from last week:
*Paint night is Saturday, December 16th. Please mark your calendars. Information and sign-ups are now available on the website. Click here for more details.
*The band members plan to sell popcorn each Friday in the atrium during lunch. The cost will be $1.00 per bag. Please support their efforts by spreading the word and encouraging some popcorn snacking during Friday lunches.
In volunteer news, I will be sending out a separate email tomorrow, which will contain important details related to events and volunteer needs for the month of October. Please look for that email and read it carefully. If you have questions about volunteering, please reach out to our volunteer coordinators. They are happy to speak with you and give you information about how to get involved.
Marching band will practice on Monday and Thursday from 4:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m., and color guard will practice from 4:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. on the same days. It is entirely possible that the section leaders and band directors will request extra practice sessions, as we are entering our second band review on Saturday (see below). Please look for communications about modified practice schedules. Again, practices will be intense and challenging. Please encourage your student to reach out to other band members for support when needed, and please encourage them to be a source of support for others. We are all here to help and support the students and the program in any way we can.
Please regularly check Inderkum's calendar for important dates, events, etc. so that scheduling conflicts can be avoided.
There is another SAT opportunity scheduled for December 2nd. The band does not have an event scheduled, so please have your student take the test on this date if possible.
Our second band review is on Saturday, October 21st, near Del Oro High School in Loomis. Further communication with important information and instructions will be sent later in the week. The band could use donations of water and after-marching snacks on this day. Please send all donations directly to the band room by Friday afternoon. Thank you!
As we all pause tonight to reflect on this last week and the band's accomplishments, please encourage your students to maintain their focus and to anticipate some intense practice this week in preparation for the upcoming weekend. There is work to do, and the students are ready, so let's get to it!
Have a wonderful week everyone!
