Good evening everyone,
What a great weekend! Many, many thanks to all of the families who made the trip to Lodi yesterday (in the rain!) to watch our students march with pride! It was awesome to see and hear all of you cheering and encouraging our students down the street. I invite you to my YouTube channel so that you may view the video and share in the experience.
Thank you all for everything you do for the band program and for the students. These amazing educational experiences are not possible without the support of our wonderful band families.
And now on to announcements.
In fundraising news:
*The popcorn fundraiser is wrapping up! Please encourage your student to SELL, SELL, SELL to family members, friends, neighbors, and trusted adults. Sales incentives were announced during band class, and the goal is 10 units per student. They can do it! Please support them in their efforts. Order forms and money are due tomorrow, November 6th.
*The annual pancake breakfast and Christmas Bazaar are on Saturday, December 2nd at Inderkum. WE COULD REALLY USE HELP WITH THESE EVENTS. These are events that require much planning and donation. Included in the items needed for these events: pancake batter, syrup, coffee, plates, napkins, cups, decorations, and crafts that can be sold at our craft tables. If you or anyone you know owns a restaurant or a business in the food service industry, or if you or anyone you know can donate supplies or time to the breakfast or crafts to our craft tables, please reach out to our fundraising coordinator as soon as possible. Planning these events is time sensitive. Thank you!
*Paint night is Saturday, December 16th. There are still some spaces open! Please mark your calendars. Information and sign-ups are available on the website. Click here for more details.
*Band members continue to sell popcorn each Friday in the atrium during lunch. The cost is $1.00 per bag. Please support their efforts by spreading the word and encouraging some popcorn snacking during Friday lunches.
In volunteer news, I will be sending out a separate email tomorrow, which will contain important details related to events and volunteer needs. Please look for that email and read it carefully. If you have questions about volunteering, please reach out to our volunteer coordinators. They are happy to speak with you and give you information about how to get involved.
Marching band will practice on Monday and Thursday from 4:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m., and color guard will practice from 4:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. on the same days. The section leaders and band directors will likely request extra practice sessions, in preparation for our final band review in two weeks. Please look for communications about modified practice schedules. Again, practices will be intense and challenging. Please encourage your student to reach out to other band members for support when needed, and please encourage them to be a source of support for others. Please also encourage your student to make healthy food choices in order to stay energized, hydrated, and focused. We are all here to help and support the students and the program in any way we can.
In an attempt to keep the students hydrated during practice and rehearsals, the band is in need of bottles of water. Any donations of water would be greatly appreciated!
There is another SAT opportunity scheduled for December 2nd. The band does not have an event scheduled, so please have your student take the test on this date if possible.
Please regularly check Inderkum's website for important dates, events, etc. so that you may plan accordingly with your student and avoid scheduling conflicts.
There is no school this Friday, November 10th, in observance of Veteran's Day. That being said, we are anticipating a football playoff schedule, which will involve a band commitment on that day. Please look for communication about Friday later in the week.
Looking forward, our winter concert is scheduled for Thursday, December 7th. Please mark your calendars and plan to spend the evening listening to fantastic music!
In the coming week, please look for multiple email transmissions. There are many things happening in the music program between now and Winter break. We also plan to distribute details about the trip to Florida in April. Among the emails you can expect:
*A message from our president about the Florida trip
*A message from our fundraising coordinators about an upcoming meeting related to the Christmas Bazaar and Pancake Breakfast
*A message from our volunteer coordinators about opportunities in the coming months
On the subject of the Florida trip, we are in need of chaperones. Individuals considered must be cleared through the district and meet all requirements (fingerprinted, TB immunized, etc). If you are interested in chaperoning the trip, please reach out to the directors and inform them of your status. Please keep in mind that all fees required of the students will also apply to chaperones.
Tomorrow, Monday November 6th, is the last day for your student to sign up and commit to the Florida trip. If you have not already done so, and if your student plans to join us on the trip, please reach out to World Projects immediately and follow the necessary instructions and payment procedures to complete registration.
As we prepare for our final band review (the championships!) in two weeks and quickly transition into concert season, please remind your students to arrive to band class on time, prepared, and ready to work. Attendance, punctuality, preparedness, and respectful attitudes are the expectations each day.
Thank you, everyone, for your continued support.
Have a fantastic week!
