Good evening everyone,
Here are your announcements:
In fundraising news, I will refer to sections of the email last week and include them again here:
In volunteer news, I encourage you to reach out to our volunteer coordinators and inquire about the various opportunities for you to volunteer throughout the year. The coordinators are continually working on schedules and plans for everyone who has offered to help. If you have any questions, please reach out to them.
In uniform news, the fitting process is almost complete. There are just a few more students who need to be fitted at this time. Many, many thanks to our uniform coordinator for taking on this enormous job and for doing it so well. Many thanks are also extended to the volunteers who helped with this process. Our students are lucky to have involved parents who care!
In other news, it was great to see so many families at the football game last Friday night. KCRA filmed the band for their 'Band of the Week' segment. Congratulations to both band members and parents! Many of you were able to walk over to the visitor's side of the stadium and visit our snack shack operated by the music boosters and student leaders. Many of you also discovered that the food sold out - before half time! This is fantastic news for the band program, however, we could increase sales tremendously if we had an appropriate structure for the snack shack. In a previous email I introduced the band program's need for a Tuff Shed structure to be installed at the stadium. Again, our president would like to discuss the details with anyone who can help here. Please reach out to him.
Continuing on with snack shack news, we are in need of donations. Specifically, the following items are needed:
*Flats of water - lots of water!
*Restaurant-style tortilla chips
*Street taco-sized corn tortillas
*Cans of sweet yellow corn
If the donations can be delivered to the band room no later than Wednesday, that would be fantastic! We need to take an accounting of all supplies so that we can plan accordingly for the next football game (see below). Your donations are very appreciated!
As a continual reminder, if your student needs to take the SAT, there is an opportunity to take it on October 7th. There is no band event scheduled for that day, so please encourage your student to take the exam at that time.
Marching band will practice on Monday and Thursday from 4:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m., and the color guard will practice from 4:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. on the same days. Please make sure that your student has water to drink during break periods. The weather is cooling down significantly, and the days are getting shorter, however, water is still very important and necessary for the students to perform at their best.
On Friday, September 22nd, the band has its second football game performance. This is our homecoming game, everyone, so please plan to visit the stadium that night and support ALL Inderkum students! Call times and apparel requirements will be announced later in the week.
Thank you all for your support. We appreciate you!
There is much work to be done in the weeks before our first band review, so please encourage your students to arrive at band, on time and prepared, for some challenging practice sessions. This is the time of year that stress levels can increase with the students because, needfully, there is an increase in the intensity of practices. The directors and band members are very supportive of one another, so if your students feel stressed or anxious for any reason, please encourage them to reach out, especially to other band members, for support. We are all here to help! This is going to be a great season. Let's get to work!
Have a fantastic week!
