Good evening everyone,
Happy September! I hope you are enjoying this beautiful long weekend.
Our thanks to everyone who attended the mandatory parent meeting last Thursday evening. We appreciate it very much. The educational opportunities offered in this program are largely dependent on your support, the success of fundraising efforts, and regular volunteerism. As was discussed at the meeting, it takes many 10's of thousands of dollars and numerous parent volunteers to maintain the program at its current level, and your involvement is crucial. So, thank you for all that you do, for the students and for the program.
Here are your announcements:
In volunteer news, many thanks to those who visited with our Bingo Manager after the parent meeting and signed up to volunteer at a Sunday bingosession. Bingo proceeds are, by far, the largest source of fundraising monies for the music program. Annual student fees would be notably higher without bingo proceeds. In order to keep fees low and to maintain our various ensembles and performance schedules, we must regularly and predictably staff our bingo sessions. Please examine the sign-up genius and consider joining us. We would love to see you there! Our bingo manager and other volunteers will show you everything you need to know. If you have further, specific questions please reach out to our volunteer coordinators. Thank you!
In other volunteer news, please be on the lookout for our sign-up genius for band reviews. We will need numerous volunteers to drive trucks, prepare and serve food, secure the tent/bus area, and shadow the students in the warm-up zones. Information will be distributed soon.
In fundraising news, let's sell some cookie dough everyone. SELL, SELL, SELL! Proceeds will fund your students' band accounts for future travel etc. As this is a non-travel year, this is a good opportunity to really build up the balances in the accounts. Please encourage your students to reach out to neighbors, teachers, family members, and friends to get this cookie dough sold! The fundraiser ends on Friday, September 14th. Order forms and money are due on that date (checks can be made out to Inderkum Music Boosters).
In other fundraising news, Chipotle Night is on Tuesday, October 2nd (3830 Truxel Rd). Please see the flyer below. Last year's fundraiser was a huge success. Please consider joining us. Mention Inderkum's band and 50% of all sales will be donated to the program.
On another fundraising note the color guard sells popcorn each Friday in the atrium during both lunches. Please encourage your students to support our amazing color guard units by eating a popcorn lunch! The cost is $2.00 for a large cup and $1.00 for a small box. Thank you!
As was discussed at the mandatory parent meeting, the band is in need of cases of water. The students need a significant amount of water throughout marching season, and donations of water are greatly appreciated. They can be dropped off directly at the band room on Monday and Thursday afternoons before 6:30 p.m.
If your student has not yet submitted the required forms to the band directors, they are now past due and must be submitted immediately (yellow information form, pink discipline contract, blue photo release, and orange membership agreement). Please remind your students to place them in backpacks before the start of the school week.

Please note: There was an error on the original master calendar for the Fall Semester. Specifically, our Winter Concert date was incorrect. The correct date is Thursday, December 13th. We apologize for this error. I have attached the corrected master calendar to this communication for your convenience.
I HIGHLY ENCOURAGE YOU to regularly check Inderkum's master calendar for important dates, events, etc. Many of our students are involved in extracurricular activities, sports, and/or have jobs. Please help your students avoid scheduling conflicts as much as possible.
I also highly encourage you to keep my communications in your email inbox, as I regularly embed my communications with various hyperlinks and documents to keep you informed of important dates, events, requirements, needs of the music program, etc. Hyperlinks will always be teal blue in colorand are active from any device.
Many thanks to our new band families for signing up to receive my communications. You can expect to receive detailed communication each Sundayevening. During busier times, such as marching season, email traffic will be heavier. To families that are having difficulty receiving my communications or are receiving my communications in error, please let me know so that I may investigate the problem.
If you have any other questions or concerns, please reach out to me. I am here to help you in all ways possible.
On a personal note I would like to thank you for the feedback I continue to receive. I appreciate it very much. It is my pleasure to serve as your communications director, and it is my goal to keep you informed in a timely manner about all matters related to Inderkum Music.
Have a wonderful week everyone, and we'll see you at school on Tuesday, September 4th.
