Happy Autumn! I hope you are rested and ready for another great week.
Here are your announcements:
Another homecoming week is in the books, and it concluded with an awesome band performance at the football game. Everyone looked and sounded amazing! I have attached several pictures from the evening to this email. (Principal Motherspaw also posted videos to Twitter, via the school website.) We extend our thanks to all of the families who came out to support the students, the school, and the band program. We also extend many thanks to those that volunteered in various capacities to help the night run smoothly and safely. Special thanks are extended to our band directors. They drive this vehicle that is the band program, and they do a phenomenal job. The fun is just beginning this season, everyone. It is going to be a great year!
In fundraising news:
Continuing with fundraising news, we are actively searching for auction prizes for various events we are planning throughout the year. Prizes can either be products or services (such as car repair services, hairstyling services, tutoring services, Uber services, house cleaning services, dog walking services - we would consider any idea). Please reach out to the fundraising coordinator to discuss donation opportunities.
In volunteer news, the volunteer coordinators have provided a message for you, which is attached at the end of this email. The message includes several sign-up geniuses for various volunteer/donation needs. If you have specific questions about volunteer opportunities, please reach out to the volunteer coordinators directly.
In snack shack news, once again the food sold out at the football game last Friday! That being said, we are once again asking for donations to supply the snack shack for the next football game. Among the items that are needed:
*Street-sized (tiny) corn tortillas
*Cans of sweet corn
*Large cans of Arizona tea
*Red Solo Cups
The volunteer coordinators have provided a sign-up genius for this purpose, and it is provided in their message below. PLEASE CHECK THE GENIUS FOR ITEMS THAT ARE CURRENTLY NEEDED, AND COMPLETE IT ACCORDINGLY BEFORE PURCHASING THE DONATIONS. We use these sign-ups to control how much of each item is donated. If donations can be delivered to the band room no later than Wednesday, that would be great! Thank you so much! We appreciate all that you do.
As a continual reminder, if your student needs to take the SAT, there is an opportunity to take it on October 7th. There is no band event scheduled for that day, so please encourage your student to take the exam at that time.
Marching band will practice on Monday and Thursday from 4:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m., and color guard will practice from 4:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. on the same days. Please make sure that your student has water to drink during break periods. Appropriate clothing and closed-toe shoes are always a must. The band has 6 more practices until its first review next month. Every moment counts, everyone. Practices are going to intensify. Please encourage your student to reach out to other band members during any moments of stress or anxiety. These feelings are completely normal, and the directors and band members are very supportive of one another. We are all here to help!
Although we have officially entered Autumn, the weather this week will be slightly warmer than normal for this time of year. Please check the weather forecast regularly and plan accordingly.
Please check Inderkum's website regularly to check for important dates, events, etc. so that scheduling conflicts can be avoided.
Our next football game performance is this Friday, September 29th. Call times and apparel requirements will be announced later in the week. Please join us in supporting the students and the band program and come on out to the stadium that night!
Please continually encourage your students to arrive to band on time, prepared, and ready to be challenged. Respect. Integrity. Discipline. Excellence. These attributes guide the music program. Please join us in modeling these attributes and encouraging the students to do the same.
Thank you all for everything you do for the students and for the program. Your presence, involvement, and support are appreciated!
Have a wonderful week, and we'll see you at the stadium on Friday!

A message from your volunteer coordinators:
The school year is already moving too quickly! We want to thank all the volunteers who helped with uniform fitting and at bingo for the past 2 weeks. You make our program better and with plenty of help, the workload is a lot lighter!
Bingo continues to need parent volunteers. We've had a great turnout of volunteers and are ready to welcome more parents. As a reminder when volunteering for bingo, please wear comfortable clothing and shoes. Volunteering at the bingo hall will definitely help you get in your daily steps so we want you to be comfortable. Please consider coming for a session to see what it is all about and have some fun at the same time. Here is the link:
Band Review Volunteers:
Believe it or not we are less than 3 weeks away from our first band competition. As we gear up for those events we wanted to give you a brief description of our needs for competition day volunteers:
Please consider where you would like to assist as a volunteer during our reviews. The SignUp Genius link is below and has all of the competitions listed to allow for plenty of planning time to volunteer. Again, we thank you for your continued help and support to make the program run successfully.
We look forward to welcoming you to these volunteer opportunities.
Your volunteer coordinators,
Heather & Lisa
